Big Cities, Big Data, Big Lessons! Leveraging Multi-Sector Data in Public Health to Address Social Determinants of Health
Monday, November 6 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Big data promises to revolutionize most aspects of modern society, culture, politics and the economy.  Big city local health departments are grappling with the challenges and opportunities that accompany this technological explosion.

This session will feature panelists representing four local health departments at the forefront of this movement. These local health departments include the Allegheny County Health Department, Public Health Seattle King County, the New York City Department of Mental Health and Hygiene, and the Baltimore City Health Department, each of which received funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for Data Across Sectors for Health.

Each panelist will discuss how they are accessing, analyzing and leveraging big data to address public health priorities. Learnings, challenges, and opportunities from four distinct projects will be presented, including discussion of next steps to advance the field of multi-sector data sharing at the national level.
