Data Across Sectors for Health (DASH) is bringing its APHA Special Session Presentation to webinar format for those who unable to attend the conference.
While considerable investments have bolstered the data infrastructure in clinical health care settings, much of health is actually determined by social factors outside of the doctors’ offices and hospitals. Rapid developments in data integration and analytics are driving the adoption of big data tools by public health and community providers.
The four featured projects, led by health departments, reflect community collaborations that are working to integrate data from sectors that influence individual and community health, such as housing, education, social service, economic development, and safety. These health departments include the New York City Department of Mental Health and Hygiene, Allegheny County Health Department, Baltimore City Health Department, and Public Health Seattle & King County. Each panelist will discuss how they are accessing, analyzing and leveraging big data to address public health priorities.
